I was lucky enough to be called in as the Cover Disk and Cover CD-Rom Editor for the launch of Mac Action UK. This was the title that was destined to become one of the top UK Mac gaming titles. My job was to compile software from all around the world. At the time the Internet was still in it's infancy so much of the software had to be obtained by contacting companies directly.
There was CompuServe and the UK service CIX which helped quite a bit, although our modems were 28.8bps if we were lucky! Still I managed to build up a reputation with the UK and US software houses and was able to get hold of a lot of demos on an exclusive basis. I also managed to grab a lot of new Shareware as soon as it was released. These two things made up the bulk of the CD-Rom's contents, although soon we were able to start adding video content too.
