In 2004 my wife and I decided to set up an English Tearoom in Texas. We had plenty of experience running pubs and restaurants in England and thought the idea would a be great adventure for the whole family. The Tearoom opened for business in Early 2005. I approached all the local media to let them know what was going on. We had both local newspapers in attendence and a TV channel from Corpus Christi covered us for their evening news. On this page you can see how our website used to look and browse some of our advertising and promotions.
Also there are a few of the radio spots we ran, written and produced by my and recorded by my wife, friends at a radio station and myself. In addition there's a link to a very nice piece we 'bribed' one of the afternoon talk radio hosts into running by supplying them with loads of English food. Finally there's a three-minute video of the news report local Channel 10 News did on our launch. All files are in Windows Media format to keep quality while saving space, bandwidth and download times.
I also have a large folder full of promotions and free spots I managed to obtain from local media for the Tearoom by persuading them how unique we were. Such as when we (the British) organised the local July 4th Independence Day celebrations. How's that for irony? I'll upload them when time permits.
